Drug testing should be required for all individuals that apply for the Federal Food Stamp Program. I believe that allowing individuals who abuse drugs to receive food stamps is enabling the abuser to remain dependent on the government’s help? Do I think that people on food stamps are more likely to abuse drugs? What are the statistics? Would the families and children suffer if those who abuse drugs do not get food stamps? Drug abuse can keep individuals from becoming self-sufficient and drug tests can possibly open doors to offer services that would help individuals recover. Is it violating human rights to require drug tests for welfare recipients? Numerous occupations require drug testing before getting hired and also during employment.
